The Arctic Edge Training Center is now offering the United States Figure Skating Aspire Program. The Aspire program is designed to transition Learn to skate participants to a higher level Figure Skater by instilling the beginning foundations of a good training program through on and off ice training. Our coaches will teach proper skill development and training techniques, in a small group setting. There will be a 15 min off ice class before the 30 min on ice class.

5:25pm-5:40pm Off Ice - Our off ice sessions will vary daily, but skaters will learn proper warm-up, stretching, movement, and jump technique.

5:50pm-6:20pm On Ice - On ice training will begin with developing proper stroking and edge technique while learning the first skating skills test.  After that, the skaters will break in to small groups according to level to continue to work on their respective test levels.

  • Basic 2-6 Private Lesson Addition ($10 per 15 minute lesson):

In addition to their group class, skaters may receive a 15 minute private lesson during their practice time. You may request  1 week or all 8 weeks if available. Instructors may rotate. Space is limited! It is available to Basic 2 - 6 skaters enrolled in classes only. MUST EMAIL TO REGISTER.

  • Private Lessons

Skaters interested in pursuing skating at a more competitive level. Ask our Learn to Skate Director, Jennifer Goen, about private lessons.

  • Buying Skates

You can be measured, fitted and purchase skates at The Detroit Custom Skate Shop located in our arena by the West rink. We recommend skaters to wear their own skates, especially by Basic 3.

Format: 30 minute class + 15 minute practice, once a week for 8 weeks.
Nametags: The nametag table will be located near the west rink entrance. Please wear your nametag every week. Coaches will collect them at the end of each class. On the First week please arrive 15 minutes early as we will meet at the tables 5 minutes before class starts.
Colored Posters: During the designated class time, skaters will meet at the colored poster located along the boards corresponding to the color dot on their nametag.
Practice Ice: Available for LTS students only. Parents and siblings are not allowed on the ice (with the exception of the adults in the Adult class).

Make-up Classes: One per session if there’s another available class time for that level. Contact Learn to Skate Director Jen Goen at Make ups are not offered on the first week or last week of the sessions.
Evaluations: Skaters will be evaluated the last day of class. At the end of class they will be given an evaluation form with the instructor's recommendation for their next level.
